Academic City cultivates a spirit of engaged and vibrant religious, secular, and spiritual communities on campus that explore deep questions of purpose, tolerance, meaning, and value. In the spirit of tolerance, ACity welcomes all students, faculty, families, and staff to assemble and practice their worship at our meditation hall on campus. Our vision is for every member of our campus to experience the support of a community that enables them to grow into their best selves and put their values to work in the world.

Fall 2019 Calendar : Religious Observances
Eid-Al-Adha
The second of two Islamic holidays celebrated worldwide each year, and considered the holier of the two. It honors the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God's command.		 August 5th
Diwali
The festival of lights, which is celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, Buddhists and some Muslims every autumn.		 October 27th
Christmas Day
A celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ		 December 25th
Boxing Day
Traditionally a day off for staff, and the day when they received a special Christmas box from their employers.		 December 26th
*Faculty members are encouraged to refrain from scheduling major exams or presentations on these dates and to be as flexible as possible with class requirements. Staff members should try to schedule campus events with these observances in mind. Students should contact faculty a week in advance to request accommodations for any class work missed due to a religious observance.
