Academic City University has awarded a full Master’s scholarship to Ms. Vanessa Woenam Banini, the winner of this year’s Top Intern competition, reiterating the university’s commitment to nurturing exceptional talent and supporting the next generation of leaders.

She emerged as the overall winner after two gruelling rounds of presentations held on July 30. She was subsequently awarded the Academic City scholarship worth GH¢107,700.

The Top Intern is a reality show organized by TV3 to nurture the talents of young university graduates. Contestants undertake a series of weekly challenges based on themes set by a panel of experts. Their performance determines whether they advance to the next stage of the competition or are eliminated.

Presenting the scholarship, the Director of Marketing and Communication at Academic City, Ms. Nelly Agyemang-Gyamfi, said the award underscored the University’s commitment to recognising excellence and supporting outstanding talent beyond undergraduate education.

She said investing in young talent aligned with Academic City’s vision of developing ethical, entrepreneurial and globally competitive graduates capable of addressing complex challenges through innovation.

Ms. Agyemang-Gyamfi added that the scholarship also reflected the University’s confidence in initiatives such as Top Intern, which bridge the gap between academia and industry by exposing young people to real-world work environments while equipping them with critical employability skills.

Receiving the award, Ms. Vanessa Woenam Banini expressed her appreciation to Academic City, describing the scholarship as a life-changing investment in her future and an opportunity to further develop her knowledge and make an even greater impact.
