Dr Ali Abubakar

Dr Ali Abubakar is a lecturer in Academic City University’s Department of Computational Science. His expertise spans scientific computing, computational mathematics, stochastic multi-objective optimisation, numerical linear algebra, data science, Bayesian statistics, probabilistic machine learning and high-performance computing. His work connects advanced mathematical computation with optimisation, uncertainty quantification and scalable data-driven modelling. He teaches operations research, database systems, theoretical computer science, compiler design, operating systems, probability, data-science mathematics, signal processing and research methods, helping students apply theory to practical and professional contexts. He holds a PhD and an MPhil in Scientific Computing and Industrial Modelling from KNUST and a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Cape Coast. He has received an AI in Science African Faculty Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Michigan and scholarship support for his postdoctoral research. He contributes to experiential, context-responsive education and interdisciplinary collaboration at Academic City.
